We were lucky enough to find the Kalamazoo House in the summer of 2007, and we have enjoyed welcoming guests to Kalamazoo ever since. Owning a historic home like this one gives us a sense of history, and we realize we are in some ways simply caretakers, and stewards of the past. We're lucky enough to be able to take care of the house and its history until we someday turn it over to someone else.
We also enjoy welcoming visitors to Kalamazoo. Since 2007, we have welcomed guests from over two dozen countries and all 50 of the U.S.states and Puerto Rico. It's fun to be the face of Kalamazoo for visitors, and to help acquaint our guests with all this vibrant city has to offer.
Trained as a civil engineer, Terry has had a long career in commercial & industrial construction. In fact, until very recently his days have been spent as an executive with a large, international commercial construction company, meaning that his innkeeping roles have been mostly limited to "weekend chef", "director of maintenance", and "chief accountant". With his recent retirement, he looks forward to coming up with even more breakfast dishes for our guests to enjoy, continuing the maintenance of this grand old home, and having the time to really embrace the role of innkeeper.
