Warm greetings from the Kalamazoo House B&B

Has the coming of Spring ever been THIS welcome??

Polar Vortex. Sub-zero Temperature. Windchill. Winter Storm Advisory.

These are just some of the terms we’re hoping we don’t hear again for a very, very long time. Do you feel the same? The calendar says Spring is here, and that gives us hope that the globe is spinning as it should be, soon to bring flowers and gentle breezes.

It’s time to shake off the winter doldrums and make some plans, and we want to invite you to get out of your house and get into ours very soon! Why not consult your calendar, talk to your friends, and plan a trip to Michigan’s best downtown?

Improvements

  • KHBB Room #8

We’ve been hard at work with some renovations that we think you’ll love. Just take a look at the lovely contemporary retreat we’ve created in Room #8. This third floor room was fine the way it was, but we wanted some change. We wanted more than just a simple facelift and boy, did we deliver! We’re very proud of what we created, and guests are loving it, too.

New craft breweries

  • beer

Michigan’s craft beer explosion almost seems to be centered right here in Kalamazoo. Just in the past several months, we’ve added 4 new brewpubs right downtown--one just 1-1/2 blocks from us--and Arcadia Ales soon will be joining us with a huge new pub and their bottling facility. Of course Bell’s Brewery, the granddaddy of them all, continues to provide amazing beer, food and fun all the time. Note that Bells has just released Oberon, so warmer weather must certainly be coming!

Events and Festivals

  • Arcadia Festival Place at night with crowd

We’re about to kick off a full season of special events and festivals right downtown here, the Kalamazoo Color Run, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival. Then quickly to June Jubilee (Greek Fest, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Art Fair, Art on the Mall, Art Hop and the Do-Dah Parade all on one very special weekend), followed by a full summer of festivals and events.

What's cooking?

  • catherineterry

Terry's really been cooking up some pretty amazing new breakfasts around here. You’ll remember that we offer our breakfast at individual tables, and we serve at your convenience, and we offer you many choices. You even have a new menu to choose from every day! What’s new? How about “It’s a Gouda Morning” -- a luscious mixture of smoked gouda, cream cheese, spinach and sausage? Or “Field and Stream”--smoked salmon, goat cheese, scrambled eggs and capers on whole wheat French bread? Come try some of our new items, or enjoy your old favorites, real soon.

It won't be long 'til 'porch-sitting weather'.

Make plans to come join us!
