Grounds and Common Areas
You've seen the guest rooms, so now discover how our elegant public areas are also arranged with your comfort in mind. The Breakfast Room in the Kalamazoo House B&B is truly a restful place to relax over a leisurely breakfast. Choose a window seat to watch the world go by, or enjoy the cozy warmth of the gas-log fire during the winter months. You'll marvel at the elegant Bradbury and Bradbury wallpaper, the beautiful tiled fireplace, and the remarkable faux-graining that adorns all the original wood. Be sure to notice the stunning decorative paint on the ceiling medallion of the home's original pewter and crystal chandelier.
Kick back in one of the comfortable leather recliners in front of the cozy hearth and socialize with old or new friends. Watch a game or a movie on the HDTV in the armoire. Or maybe just read a book in the peace and quiet. The choice is yours. Thirteen-foot ceilings, faux-finished walls and stenciled mouldings, and elegant window treatments might give the room a formal feel, but we invite you to relax and be comfortable! At the other end of our beautiful Parlor, you'll find a stunning marble-topped bar that's a memory of when the inn was also open as a restaurant. Now we only really use the bar for special parties and events. The 3 tables in the Parlor are regularly used for additional seating for breakfast when the inn is busy. Business guests also bring their laptops and take care of business when they'd rather not work in their rooms. When guests travel with friends or family, they also like to use these tables to play cards or board games, or just to hang out together.
From the Outside
After a long day at work, or even a long day at play, wouldn't you rather relax in the fresh air of a porch than in a stuffy hotel lobby? We have TWO covered porches at the Kalamazoo House B&B, so you can choose whether to socialize with other guests--or not--while you unwind and kick back. Enjoy a beverage, people-watch, or use the hi-speed WifFi on your computer or smartphone. And enjoy a breath of fresh air. Do you love gardens? Laurel does! Since we're an urban inn, right downtown, our planting spaces are a bit limited, but Laurel manages to plant every available square foot in a changing display of color! Our guests enjoy the gardens from both the front and side porches.
